A journey to the heart of the French countryside, the Béarn, the region of Bearn is famous throughout France for its beauty, its sports, its cultural activities, its historical monuments, its views of the Pyrenees and the river (gave d’Oloron) and its extraordinary cuisine. Experience the warmth and charm of a french family home, with interior decorator, Florence Verspieren, who worked in Paris for seven years and whose work has appeared in interior decoration magazines. She bought an XVIIIth century property of Bétouzet to offer bed, breakfast and evening meal. Bétouzet is situated three kilometres from the medieval town of Sauveterre-de-Béarn in the department of the Pyrenées-Atlantiques. Ideally located only forty five minutes from the Atlantic ocean and half an hour from the Pyrenées, it is within easy driving distance by motorway of the towns of Pau, Lourdes, Biarritz, Saint-Sébastien and Bilbao. Bordeaux international airport is about two hours drive away and Pau airport or Biarritz airport (about forty five minutes drive away) has a daily flight from London Stanstead. The TGV is only twenty minutes away at Orthez. Sauveterre-de-Béarn has a variety of shops and historical monuments including a XIVth century fortified bridge and a XIIth century château. The surrounding area is hilly and wooded. There are many recreational and cultural activities available including skiing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, rafting, kayaking and tennis.
